Church groups unite for Musical Chairs
Praise and worship doesn't have to be confined to church services, and two area churches conveyed this message when they performed for the countywide concert series, Musical Chairs, Friday night (June 11, 2010) at Burlington City Park.
Integrity Church and The Lamb's Chapel teamed up for the third annual SOS Productions Praise Band Concert from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Burlington City Park's amphitheater on South Church Street in Burlington.
"I just really believe people have a lack of hope right now. Yes, life is hard right now. We've seen this in our own church family, but there is hope if you turn to and trust in God," said Richie Surles, worship pastor of The Lamb's Chapel, 415 Roxboro St., Haw River.
The Lamb's Chapel's group performed traditional hymns with a contemporary twist. Audiences heard a lot of contemporary Christian music that's upbeat and lively, similar to what is performed during Sunday worship services.
Steven Potts, worship pastor at Integrity Church, 2420-H Corporation Parkway, Burlington Outlet Village, Burlington, said Friday's concert would resemble a Sunday service at Integrity.
"We do a mixture of praise/worship songs and revamped hymns on Sunday mornings," Potts said. And those songs can include classic rock tunes from The Beatles and The Doobie Brothers, among others.
